100th Entry RAF Locking REUNIONS

100th Entry members meet up from time to time — but, every so often, there is a major reunion. Every one of them is listed below.

The reunions

2006 — Ipswich

7th October 2006 · Marriott Courtyard Hotel, Ipswich

The whole event was organised by Peter Wallace, who attended with his wife Helen. It was the first major reunion in more than twenty years.

2012 — Somerset50 years since joining

31st August to 2nd September 2012 · Webbington Hotel, Loxton, Somerset

The 100th Entry 50th Anniversary Reunion was celebrated over the weekend of 31st August – 2nd September 2012, with the main evening event taking place on Saturday 1st September. The event was at the Webbington Hotel, just outside Weston-super-Mare. Mick Herbert and Pete Wallace organised the event, which marked the 50th anniversary of joining the 100th Entry at RAF Locking in 1962.

The flypast was a Hurricane flown by Wg Cdr Paul Godfrey, OC Operations Wing, RAF Coningsby. The aircraft was Hurricane LF 363, the last Hurricane that the RAF flew.

2014 — Somerset50 years since graduating

12th to 14th September 2014 · Webbington Hotel, Loxton, Somerset

A reunion was held over the weekend of 12th – 14th September 2014, with the main evening event on Saturday 13th September, again at the Webbington Hotel. Dave Morris and Bruce Thorpe organised the event, which marked the 50th anniversary of graduating from RAF Locking in December 1964.

2016 — Somerset

10th to 12th September 2016 · Webbington Hotel, Loxton, Somerset

The 2016 reunion was held on 10th – 12th September at the Webbington Hotel just outside Weston-super-Mare. Dave Morris organised the event. Fewer photographs were taken than in previous years, and not all those attending were pictured.

2018 — IpswichRAF centenary year

7th and 8th September 2018 · Ipswich, Suffolk

Dave Dunthorn, Mick Herbert and Pete Wallace organised the 2018 reunion, held in Ipswich, Suffolk on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th September.

2018 also marked the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force.

2022 — Norwich60 year anniversary

18th & 19th March 2022 · Norwich, Norfolk

Dave Dunthorn organised a reunion in Norwich, Norfolk, originally set for October 2020. It was postponed, and was finally held on 18th and 19th March 2022 — the Entry’s sixtieth anniversary.

2024 — Malvern

22nd to 24th April 2024 · Abbey Hotel

The Malvern reunion was organised by Al Reed. The hotel was comfortable and the added bonus to the event was an arranged tour of the nearby Morgan car factory.

2026 — King’s Lynn

10th – 12th April 2026 · King’s Lynn, Norfolk

A successful reunion once again organised by Dave Dunthorn.

The earliest reunions

After passing out from RAF Locking in December 1964, there were about three major reunions in the twenty years that followed: 1965, 19?? and 1983. The middle year was never recorded. Then nothing for more than twenty years, until Ipswich in 2006.
